Veterans

As the daughter of a Vietnam veteran, I am committed to fulfilling our nation’s promise to the Americans who put their lives on the line to defend our country. We owe it to them and their families to deliver the care and benefits they’ve earned and deserve.

Congress must ensure veterans’ basic needs are met, and we must improve access to and the quality of VA health care, including mental health care. That’s why I support efforts to expand access for veterans to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), as well as proposals to expand dental care through the VA to all veterans.

Further, we must ensure veterans have access to education and training opportunities as they transition into the civilian workforce to ensure they are positioned for success in emerging and competitive fields.

Upholding our promise to our veterans also means caring for their families, especially families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty. I support raising the amount of VA benefits that are paid to surviving family members of servicemembers and veterans, as well as reducing the time period families have to wait to receive these benefits.

As a co-chair of the Bipartisan Mental Health Caucus, I recognize the immense and unique mental health struggles veterans face when returning to civilian life. I have consistently sought to elevate commonsense legislative solutions that will provide veterans with the help they need as they navigate these challenges.
