Library of Congress Book Donation

The Library of Congress Surplus Books Program offers free books to libraries, schools and organizations in need. Oregon’s Sixth Congressional District participates in the Surplus Book Program to send books that are not needed in the Library of Congress to eligible organizations around the district. There is  wide range of books, including fiction and nonfiction novels, children’s books, textbooks, cookbooks, audio books and more. To request books, eligible organizations and institutions must be in Oregon’s Sixth Congressional District and fall into on of the following categories:

  • Full-time, tax-supported, or nonprofit educational institution: school system, college, university, museum, or public library.

  • Agency of local, state, or federal government

  • Nonprofit institution or organization that has tax-exempt status under Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 (see 41 CFR 101-44.207 (a)(17)) and that operates a library and/or research provisions center open to the public.
