Salinas to Vote Against Republican Budget Scam

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) issued the following statement on her decision to vote against House Republicans’ budget proposal, which makes drastic cuts to Americans’ hard-earned benefits while giving trillions of dollars in tax breaks to billionaires:

“Congressional Republicans and President Trump promised to cut costs for middle class families. Instead, they are running a bait and switch scheme: stealing from working Americans so they can give trillions of dollars in tax breaks to their billionaire friends. This Republican budget proposal would take away health care coverage for 1.4 million Oregonians, slash food assistance for over 45,000 veterans, seniors, and children in my district, and raise inflation across the board. It’s a sweetheart deal that rewards the very rich at the expense of folks who are already struggling to make ends meet. I refuse to let my constituents be on the hook for the Republican Rip Off. I oppose this legislation.”
