Congresswoman Salinas on Republican Budget: “A Gift to Billionaires at the Expense of Hardworking Families”

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) issued the following statement after voting against the Republican budget bill that would cut health care, food assistance, and other critical benefits to give $7 trillion in tax breaks to billionaires:

“Any way you square it, this Republican budget bill is a gift to billionaires at the expense of hardworking families. This disastrous legislation paves the way for Republicans to cut health care for 1.4 million Oregonians, slash food assistance for thousands of seniors and veterans in my district, and decimate Social Security and Medicare – all so they can give massive tax breaks to their mega rich donors. My Democratic colleagues and I stood united in our opposition to this cruel and shameful legislation, and we will keep fighting to protect our constituents’ hard-earned money and benefits from the ongoing Republican Rip Off.”
