Health Care
Health care is a human right, and I’m fighting to ensure all Americans can access the quality, affordable care they need and deserve.
I’m committed to bringing down costs for those who need it most, especially working families and seniors. Millions of Americans depend on Medicare and Medicaid (in Oregon, we know this as the Oregon Health Plan) for care, and we need to protect – not undermine or defund – these programs. I support proposals to expand Medicare to cover dental, hearing, vision, and mental health care, as well as proposals that allow for drug price negotiations that would reduce the price of life-saving medication.
I also understand that health care can only be as good as it is available. In particular, our rural communities have little to no access to quality, comprehensive care. I am committed to finding solutions to these care shortages, including legislation that would strengthen Community Health Centers and provide incentives for medical professionals to work in shortage areas.
Our private health care system is too complex, burdensome, and expensive. I will continue working to improve and expand federal programs like Medicare and Medicaid while also reconsidering the nature of a profit-driven private health care industry that prioritizes profits over patients. Americans deserve the highest quality health care our country can provide, and I will continue working to move us closer to that goal.
