Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) joined fellow House Democrats outside the Capitol to denounce President Trump’s announcement that he plans to unlawfully withhold critical SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)

Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) led 13 of her colleagues in sending a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem to demand that the Trump Administration ensure journalists can freely exercise their First Amendment rights by allowing them to safely access and report on demonstrations across the country.

Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) joined the Democratic Steering & Policy Committee to deliver remarks and question witnesses about how Republicans’ health care crisis will severely impact women, especially those in the “sandwich generation” who care for both their children and elderly parents.

Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas was joined by 213 House Democrats in sending a letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins to urge the agency to use contingency reserve dollars to fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during the government shutdown.

U.S. Representatives Andrea Salinas (OR-06), Paul Tonko (NY-20), Don Beyer (VA-08), Madeleine Dean (D-PA), Lori Trahan (MA-03), and Brittany Pettersen (CO-07) called on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to immediately reinstate illegally fired staff at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and provide information about the impacts of departmental reorganization and reductions in force (RIFs) on SAMHSA and its operations.

Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) appeared before the Democratic Steering & Policy Committee to speak on the growing Republican health care crisis and to share stories from constituents whose premiums will skyrocket if Republicans allow Affordable Care Act premium tax credits to expire. In Oregon’s Sixth Congressional District alone, 16,000 people will see their premiums rise to the tune of hundreds or potentially thousands of dollars per month. Rep. Salinas called on Republicans to come back to the table and put the needs of working Americans ahead of partisan politics.
