Defending Democracy

As a member of the House of Representatives, I have sworn to protect and strengthen our institutions and defend the pillars of our democracy.

I am working to ensure every American has the right to access their ballot. I have introduced legislation to ensure all Americans can enjoy the same opportunities as Oregonians to vote by mail, and I support restoring the Voting Rights Act protections that were gutted by the Supreme Court in 2013. Protecting and expanding access to the ballot box is fundamental to the survival of our democracy.

We must also reform our campaign finance system to eliminate the impact of corporate and dark money on our politics. Further, we must take steps to ensure Members of Congress are motivated by their constituents, not by their own financial gain. That’s why I support a ban on Members of Congress trading individual stocks, and I do not own any individual stocks myself.

I am committed to doing my part to reform and restore trust in our institutions. Our democracy depends on it.
