Salinas Statement on Trump’s Decision to Reimpose Harmful Tariffs

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) issued the following statement after President Trump announced his decision to reimpose steep tariffs on Canada and Mexico after a month-long pause:

“Empty shelves at the grocery store. Long lines and steep prices at the gas station. Shuttered farms and businesses. This is President Trump’s vision for America, and it is going to be our reality if the Administration continues to pursue reckless and unnecessary trade wars.

These tariffs are nothing more than a tax on American businesses and families. These tariffs will kill jobs, wreck our economy, and hike up prices for consumers on everything from fruits and vegetables to your monthly rent and utility bills.

Once again, I am calling on President Trump to stop playing roulette with our economy and start working with Congress on solutions that will actually bring down costs for Oregon families.”
