Salinas Statement on President Biden’s State of the Union Address

March 7, 2024

Washington, DC Today, U.S. Representative Andrea Salinas (OR-06) issued the following statement after President Biden delivered his third State of the Union Address to Congress:

“Over the last year, we have seen encouraging signs that our economy is improving. Historic job growth, rising wages, and record low unemployment – these are all signs that point to positive, long-term growth for our nation. At the same time, many families in Oregon and across America are still struggling when it comes time to pay the bills or put food on the table.

“As the President stated tonight, we must act together – not as partisans but as Americans – to confront the many challenges we face both at home and abroad. We must work with each other to bring down the cost of groceries, health care, housing, and education. We must deliver more resources for our communities to tackle the addiction and mental health crisis. And we must ensure that our seniors and veterans get the benefits they have earned and deserve. These are the issues that matter most to Oregonians, and I will continue to reach across the aisle to enact sensible policies that will make life better for working families in my district – just as I have done since my first day in Congress.”
