Salinas Statement on the Certification of the 2024 Election

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) issued the following statement after Congress certified the 2024 election results:

“The American people have spoken, and Congress has fulfilled its constitutional duty of certifying the 2024 election results. 

I accept the results of this election and continue to call for a peaceful transition of power in the coming days. Free, fair, and safe elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, and any attempt to undermine that process is a direct attack on our Constitution and our country.

Today is also the fourth anniversary of the January 6th insurrection where a group of right-wing extremists attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election through violence and intimidation. As we reflect on that dark day, we must continue doing the work necessary to protect our great Nation from those who wish to do it harm. Our hard-won freedoms are precious, and we cannot take them for granted. 

I would also like to express my profound gratitude to the law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to protect the U.S. Capitol and those who worked to serve our country on that day. We will always be thankful for your service and bravery.”
