Salinas Statement on Biden Executive Action

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Andrea Salinas (OR-06), a member of the Democrats for Border Security Task Force, issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s executive order:

“President Biden’s decision to secure our border is the right one. As we continue to face an unprecedented surge in crossings, it is imperative that we take swift action to put an end to the border crisis. Today’s executive order is a step in the right direction that will help bring us closer to that goal.

Going forward, we need policies that will increase our investment in smart border security, streamline our immigration courts, and deliver certainty for the millions of immigrants who already live here, pay taxes, and contribute so much to our communities. Unfortunately, Republicans in Congress have so far been unwilling to come to the table and compromise on this issue. We cannot continue to use immigrants and border communities as political tools. Instead, let’s actually work together to find sensible solutions that will address the border crisis and deliver relief for immigrant families.”
