Salinas Statement on 51st Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

January 22, 2024

Washington, DC Today, U.S. Representative Andrea Salinas (OR-06) issued the following statement on the 51st anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade:

“Today marks the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which established a fundamental right to reproductive freedom in this country. Sadly, that right is no longer guaranteed for millions of women across America. But here is the simple truth: we cannot allow extreme courts and politicians to decide what people do with their own bodies, lives, and futures. The road to justice may be long, but giving up is not an option. Congress must pass the Women’s Health Protection Act now and restore reproductive freedom at the federal level. Until then, I will keep fighting to protect and expand access to reproductive health care in Oregon and across the country. And I will not back down.”
