Salinas Celebrates Grant to Tipsu Palach Park in Dundee

August 29, 2023

Today, U.S. House Representative Andrea Salinas (OR-06) announced that the National Park Service will award $287,175 to the Tipsu Palach Park Development project. The City of Dundee, through Oregon’s Parks and Recreation Department, will utilize this grant to complete the development of Tipsu Palach Park including the construction of a restroom building, concrete walkway, picnic shelter, overhead canopies, tables and benches, bike work-station, water fill station, water garden, landscaping, and interpretive signage.

“When we invest in our local parks, we invest in the quality of life for the entire community,” said Rep. Salinas. “The National Park Service’s grant to Dundee’s Tipsu Palach Park will ensure its successful completion with high-quality amenities for all to enjoy. The park’s name, derived from the Grand Ronde’s spoken Chinuk Wawa language, means plant gift – and it’s certainly true that this park will be a gift to all, from our local flora and fauna to the many thousands of individuals who will enjoy it for years to come. I cannot wait to visit this historic park, a living embodiment of the deep bond between the City of Dundee and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.”

The National Park Service’s investment will directly benefit the 3,300 people who call Dundee home, as well as the 27,500 individuals who reside in the Chehalem Parks District. The Tipsu Palach Park will also be especially beneficial to the estimated 400 individuals who live in nearby low-income housing and aren’t currently served by a neighborhood park.
