Representative Salinas on House Passage of FAA Reauthorization
Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (D-Tigard) issued the following statement after voting in favor of a bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for five years:
"Today, I voted in favor of H.R. 3935, a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). While imperfect, this package contained several key wins for Oregon’s Sixth District. It will increase funding to the Airport Improvement Program which would allow small airports like those we have in Salem and Aurora to better access funds for infrastructure projects, including to improve environmental resiliency and noise suppression. It will also improve wildland firefighting in Oregon and across the United States by directing the FAA to work with the Forest Service to expand the use of drones to put out these devastating blazes, and making sure small wildfire-critical airports can access federal funds. More broadly, this reauthorization expands protections for travelers, addresses serious workforce challenges, and doubles down on research and development – allowing us to take yet another step into the future of air travel.”
