Congresswoman Salinas Marks First Anniversary of the War in Ukraine
Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (D-Tigard) issued the following statement on the first anniversary of the start of the war in Ukraine:
“One year ago, Vladimir Putin launched an unprovoked, cruel war against the people of Ukraine. Every day since has been marked by horrific violence and suffering, unlike anything Europe has seen since World War II. Yet, despite all the odds, Ukrainians have remained incredibly resilient in the face of Putin’s brutality.
“Now, one year later, it's clear Putin miscalculated. He thought his assault would make democracy weaker, not stronger. He thought he would divide the West, not unite it. He was wrong. The spirit of the Ukrainian people is unshakable. And we should continue to support their fight for freedom through strategic humanitarian, economic, and defense aid until peace is restored.”
