Congresswoman Salinas on Federal Indictment of Former President Trump

On Friday, June 9, 2023, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (D-Tigard) issued the following statement after multiple reports confirmed that former President Trump has been indicted on multiple counts related to his mishandling of classified documents:

“Protecting the American people from foreign and domestic threats is the paramount responsibility of any Commander in Chief. Former President Trump failed on that count multiple times, both during and after his presidency. From his cozy relationships with foreign dictators and adversaries to the January 6 insurrection and the conspiracy to overthrow our government to his alleged retention of classified documents, the former president has shown that he believes his personal interests to be above those of our nation and himself to be untouchable. But, as he learned again last night, no one is above the law. Not even him.”
