Congresswoman Salinas Applauds Speed Limit Reduction Along Hall Boulevard

Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (D-Tigard) issued the following statement after the Oregon Department of Transportation announced it will lower the speed limit for a one-mile stretch of Southwest Hall Boulevard:

“Just a little more than a year ago, tragedy struck on Hall Boulevard when Karen Kain and her mother were hit by a car. Every day since that devastating accident, our community has been fighting to ensure we never again suffer such a terrible, preventable loss – and today, we’re celebrating an important step forward in the ongoing mission to make our streets safe for all.

“Lowering the speed limit on the stretch of Hall Boulevard where Karen Kain lost her life will help ensure cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers alike can travel safely along this roadway. I appreciate the Oregon Department of Transportation for heeding the call for change and will continue to advocate for further safety enhancements, not just to Hall Boulevard but to all hazardous roads in Oregon’s sixth district – because more work is needed to prevent future tragedies.”
